A priori is an open and continuous series of performances concerned with locating and harnessing ‘idea’ through the artist’s pursuits and existential exchanges with different materials and consequential forms. Initial sculptures and forms have been created through the process of smashing up canvases (see White Whale) and more recently fighting huge sheets of paper.
“The object itself has not become less important. It has merely become less self- important’ Robert Morris.
Further to this, Neale Donald Walsh said “A life of choice is a life of conscious action. A life of chance is a life of unconscious creation”. I propose “A sculpture of choice is a sculpture of conscious action. A sculpture of chance is a sculpture of unconscious creation”. Insert “Man’s task is to become conscious of the contents that press upward from the unconscious” (Carl Jung) and we loosely locate my departure point.
